Performance, education, and collaborative research for health, justice, and community-building.

Flipping Cancer

Flipping Cancer is a performance installation in story, dance/movement, and visual landscapes created from interviews with people who face advanced cancers as patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers. See Info for Interested Partners and Film Trailer (3:22).

  • Based on 5+ years of research partnerships, artist/scholar Marie Garlock adapts and performs Flipping Cancer as a dynamic, memorable keynote or as an open public production, specific to each new site

  • A small participant group of local cancer patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers is included via two open rehearsals, ultimately sharing some of their vital insights and stories onstage in the final performance

  • An optional, stand-alone 1 hour workshop series is led by Marie, with interfaith chaplain/musician Rev. Stacy Grove, for host institutions’ providers + employees, patients + caregivers, and/or students + faculty
